Katherine Sistrunk is a Senior Manager of Health and Reimbursement Policy at Kimbell & Associates, where she advises clients on health policy, reimbursement, federal healthcare programs, and the evolving landscape of coverage, coding, and payment policies.


Through her work at K&A, Katherine serves as Manager of Health Policy and Advocacy for the Institute for Gene Therapies, a nonprofit organization established in 2020 to address coverage, access, and reimbursement challenges associated with gene therapies.


Katherine is a former Critical Care Registered Nurse, and before joining K&A in 2023, she served as a Charge Nurse and Rapid Response Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. In this role, she cared for critically ill patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including transplant-related complications, cancer, autoimmune and neurological disorders, gastrointestinal bleeds, sepsis, and multisystem organ failure. Her clinical expertise focused on respiratory, cardiac, renal, and liver failure, and she received specialized training in continuous renal replacement therapy.


Katherine graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Leadership with minors in Spanish and Society & Health. She was a member of both the Trent Lott Leadership Institute and the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, and her senior honors thesis focused on vaccine policy. She later earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and currently serves as a mentor in the school’s Policy Honors Program.


Outside of her professional work, Katherine enjoys traveling, exploring Washington, D.C., attending fitness classes, discovering new restaurants, and participating in book clubs.
