Katherine Sistrunk
Katherine Sistrunk is a Senior Manager of Health and Reimbursement Policy at Kimbell & Associates, where she advises, educates, and collaborates with clients on health policy, reimbursement, and federal health program matters and coverage, coding, and payment parameters.
Through her role at Kimbell & Associates, Katherine serves as a Manager of Health Policy and Advocacy for the Institute for Gene Therapies (IGT), a non-profit advocacy organization launched in 2020 to help address coverage, access, and reimbursement challenges surrounding gene therapies.
Katherine an Alumnus CCRN (Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse), and prior to joining the firm in 2023, she served as Charge and Rapid Response Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where she treated critically-patients with various acute and chronic conditions including, but not limited to, transplants, cancer, autoimmune and neurological disorders, gastrointestinal bleeds, sepsis, and multisystem organ failure, with a focus on respiratory, liver, renal, and heart failure, and specialized training in continuous renal replacement therapy.
Katherine’s prior policy experience includes serving as a Public Policy Intern at AMGA: Advancing High Performance Health in Alexandria, VA, where she supported the public policy team in meetings on the Hill, worked closely on policy matters pertaining to HHS and CMS, and aided in launching a grassroots network to allow AMGA members to advocate for key issues with policymakers directly.
Katherine graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Leadership and minors in Spanish and Society & Health. She was a member of the Trent Lott Leadership Institute and Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, with her senior thesis focusing on vaccine policy. Most recently, she graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing.
In her spare time, Katherine enjoys traveling, exploring the city, attending workout classes, trying new restaurants with friends, and being an active book club participant.
